What was your favourite 90's kids show?

It's probably embarrassing to admit as an 18 year old that I still occasionally watch the Disney Channel or Nickelodeon. Baring in mind, there's only a few shows I can tolerate, those mainly being iCarly, Victorious and Wizards of Waverley Place. Yet growing up as a 90's kid, I've been reflecting a lot on how good the tv shows were back then, compared to now.

Let's start with RUGRATS shall we. The series began in 1991, sadly I wasn't born then but it continued right on until 2004. It is the longest running 'Nicktoon' with a total of 172 episodes which is pretty impressive. Some episodes i actually still remember really well, which is strange.

My favourite character was always Tommy, but I learned to love Kimi as well when she joined. I actually just loved the concept of the Rugrats, it was such a good show that probably taught me a lot. Always carry a screwdriver... But seriously, I don't know what I would of watched if this wasn't on the TV.

I was also a big fan of Doug and Hey Arnold!

I can remember the theme tune, and title work to Doug. I remember the characters names, but do I remember what actually happened on the show, no. I do recall it being one of my favourites however, and that it was re-runed in 2003 but apart from that I am at loss for words with what to say about it.

Hey Arnold! was one that always made me laugh. It aired in 1996 until 2004, so again it had another good run for a kids TV show. I used to really hate Helga, who was the girl who bullied Arnold in the show and my favourite character was Arnold's Grandpa, Phil.

As I got older, I began to appreciate the programmes that were featured even more. I was obsessed with the Olsen Twins and I'm 99% positive that I have seen every episode of "Two Of A Kind". It was one of my favourite shows, evidently but I used to like it because it was really relatable and I used to look up to the twins. The story lines were believable, and not horribly far fetched either.

Sister Sister was another favourite of mine, and I can't tell you all how over joyed I was to realise they were actually twins - unlike in Parent Trap! Again they had pretty realistic story lines, for the most part anyway and the comfort of Roger always being told to leave their house was funny!

Who remembers The Amanda Show, starring Amanda Bynes. That was a weird programme I always thought, and since it was like a sketch show I only liked certain segments. My favourite being the bathroom scene with that girl who was just like "My name's Debbie and I like eggs!". Apart from that it was a pretty pointless show, with no real purpose thinking back to it.

Speaking of pretty pointless shows, Kenan and Kel. When this first aired I hated it, I thought it was stupid and the whole "Who loves orange soda?" "Kel loves orange soda" joke was annoying. However as a child, I never wanted to sleep so I convinced my parents it was my favourite show and they always let me stay up to watch it. As a result I learned to like it, out of choice. I still always remember the episode where they sell everything in their house and are left with nothing!

I saved my best two shows until last, I became attached to both of these shows.

Sabrina The Teenage Witch

Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Where can I even start, this show seemed to go on FOREVER. I think I actually cried when I realised it was over for good as well. For those who haven't seen it, it's an American sitcom about Sabrina, who is evidently a witch. She lives with her two aunts and their cat Salem. I don't want to describe it, as I fear I will make it sound rubbish but it was actually brilliant and I felt like I somewhat grew up with Melissa Joan Hart, who played Sabrina.

And finally, Saved By The Bell was an ultimate guilty pleasure! Like the rest of the population who watched it, I fancied Zack and Slater, and obviously wanted to be Kelly! When I first watched it, I don't think I fully understood all of the storylines, but as I got older I realised they really focused on general teen issues in a very clever yet subtle way. I also loved the movies that they created out of this show, I always wanted to be in one, they looked like SO much fun.

I thank HubPages for letting me reminisce about my childhood, in such an informal manner as this article is basically just based on my remembrance and opinions on these shows. So here is a question for you fellow Hubbers : What was your favourite 90's kids show? and if you weren't born in the 90's what was your favourite show when you were younger? I shall be sure to check it out!

I was just focusing on Nickelodeon really, but yes The Flintstones are brilliant. I would of wanted to include Dexters Laboratory, Tom and Jerry, Johnny Bravo etc etc if I was doing TV shows in general! Thanks for the comment!
